Terms and Conditions of Booking
Most of our courses can be delivered at your premises.
Operative Application
You must provide information to the assessment centre, regarding your gas industry experience and qualification on the CITB ‘Application for Assessment’ form. Category 2 and 3 candidates will be required to produce ‘On the Job Training Record’ sheets for assessors to determine suitability.
If the assessment centre rejects the application, both you and the CITB will be notified in writing and a record maintained of the documentation for a period of six years.
Category 1
An experienced gas fitting operative either seeking certificate renewal and/or assessment and certification to extend their work range. The delegate will be required to bring their old or expiring ACOP/ACS card on the first day of assessment.
Category 2
Individuals with relevant gas experience and other individuals with relevant qualifications and experience in similar job disciplines, for example:
- plumbers and heating engineers
- electrical appliance service engineers
- individuals from outside the UK with relevant qualifications and experience
Candidates will have passed one of the stipulated CORGI examinations and will have to complete a minimum of ten ‘On the Job Training Record’ sheets, an example will be supplied by the centre. The ‘On the Job Training’ must be carried out under the supervision of a CORGI registered operative.
Category 3
An individual without previous experience or entering the industry for the first time. Candidates will also have to satisfy the following criteria:
- Complete a minimum of ten ‘On the Job Training Record’ sheets, an example will be supplied by the centre
- Provide a letter from their employer on headed note paper confirming that not less than 140 working days of gas installation/servicing has been performed. This employer must be CORGI registered.
- Fulfil an additional ACOP Assessment, which is organised at the time of booking
The Assessment
All assessments must be carried out at an approved ACS assessment centre. You must hold CCN1 before you attend an appliance assessment.
What is involved in ACS assessment?
All individuals who go forward for assessment will be required to complete the following:
- practical assessment
- written/questionnaire assessments
- where necessary, correctly answering any oral questions posed by an assessor
