Course objectives/key benefits:
To develop an individual’s knowledge of safety
requirements, principles and the practical application
of the manual metal arc welding process.
Who the course is aimed at:
Skilled or semi skilled welders involved in production
or maintenance work requiring an introduction or
industrial updating of the M.M.A process
Course content:
- Safety as applied to manual metal arc welding equipment
- Basic principles of the manual metal arc welding process
- Correct storage and selection of welding consumables
- Welds to be completed on steel, thickness ranging from 3mm-20mm plate as appropriate to delegates requirements

Training method:
Classroom theory and practical workshop sessions.
Course outcome/qualification:
PTC Certificate of Attendance or a welding coding to
BS4872 as appropriate (codings can be arranged to
cover BS4872, BSEN287, ASMEIX).
Pre-requisite knowledge/qualification:
At the discretion of the course tutor but must be
employed in the engineering industry or have an
industrial engineering background.
