Introduction:
This code of practice relates to the welding of
carbon steel pipework only and deals with one standard of welding: for water steam and gas
pressures up to and including 17.0 bar and/or temperature from -20°C up to and including
220°C. The test and requirements specified take account of current practice and are in
accordance with BS2460 and 2971, so far as
they are applicable to these limited purposes.
Course objectives/key benefits:
On successful completion delegates should be able to
attain the competency certification in Oxy-Acetylene
and/or M.M.A. and/or M.A.G.S and/or T.A.G.S welding
processes.
Who the course is aimed at:
- Competent welders
- Pipe fitters
- Pipe fitter-welders who require N.J.I.C approval to carry out their employment
Course content:
- Trade tests are in pipe and must be satisfactorily completed in a 4 hour period by the appropriate welding process
- Tests involve butt welds in fixed, horizontal and vertical positions or fixed at 45°

Training method:
Tests only. Although, depending on the individual,
training towards these tests, other welding courses or incompany
courses can be arranged at additional costs –
please enquire for details.

- Certificate of Welding Competency in Oxy-Acetylene
- Certificate of Welding Competency in M.M.A
- Certificate of Welding Competency in M.A.G.S
- Certificate of Welding Competency in T.A.G.S
Pre-requisite knowledge/qualification:
Practical welding experience.
