This 3 day course is aimed at individuals working with people in the care sector who are responsible for training others on handling and moving of people.
Regulations
Requirement for Handling and Moving of People training to fulfil the Management of Health and Safety regulatiosn 1999 and Manual Handling Operatiosn Regulations 1992.
Course Delivery
The course is delivered in a classroom environment and all equipment required will be provided. The training will include the following:
- Sit to stand
- Transfer from-to chair
- Slide sheets
- Slings
- Handling belts
- Wheelchair push/pull
- Basic first aid in accident situation
- How to recognise when emergency services are needed
Delegates will be assessed on one technique above in a training role.
Course Outline
- An outline of the regulations
- The causes of strain, fatigue and injury along with safe and efficient handling technique in practice
- A practical demonstration on safer moving and handling of people
- How age, fatigue and general health can affect a persons ability to mobilise indendently
- Look at unsafe practice
- Trainer assessment on teaching skills.
