Introduction:
This refresher course for individuals who have previously undergone Manual Handling training enables delegates to identify, assess and carry out manual handling situations safely, for both patient and carer with awareness of their responsibilities under Health and Safety and Manual Handling Operation Regulations.
Course objective/ key benefits:
Review and up-date knowledge of the principles of good practice in relation to Manual Handling as outlined in the objectives of the Manual Handling and Moving course.
Who the course is aimed at:
For anyone involved with manual handling including Hospital Staff, Nurses, Porters and Carers of the elderly employed in hospitals, nursing or residential care homes.
Course content:
- A reminder of the regulations
- Review the causes of strain, fatigue and injury along with safe and efficient handling technique in practice
- A practical demonstration on safer moving and handling of people
- How age, fatigue and general health can affect peoples ability to mobilise independently.
- Look at unsafe practice
