Introduction:
This course is designed for care staff to increase their understanding of Dementia and to develop appropriate communication skills for Dementia clients.

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

• Understand what Dementia is and what its common features are
• Understand the changes in client communication during the progression of the illness
• Adapt their communication style to meet individual client needs
• Empathise with those who have Dementia

• The practicalities of working with Dementia
• Changes in client communication as the illness progresses
• How to adapt your own communication skills to work with Dementia clients
