Duration: 9 sessions over 5 month period - from 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm  

 

Introduction:

This qualification is developed by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and Edexcel/BTEC.  The NVQ assessments are entirely based on an individual's ability to gather suitable work-based evidence.  They MUST BE EMPLOYED in a suitable position within a contracting organisation. Once you have achieved this qualification along with the relevant safety test you will be able to apply for the appropriate CSCS card.

 

Who the course is aimed at:

Suitable for both established construction site supervisors and those who are developing their abilities in this occupation who have suitable work experience.

 

Course content :

We offer the General Pathway (82 credit minimum).  Made up of the following 3 mandatory units, shown below.  Plus a minimum of four optional units.

 

1. Operate health, safety and welfare systems in construction

2. Prepare programmes and schedules of work in construction

3. Develop and maintain working relationships of personal development in construction

 

Assessment:

During each unit of study you will be asked to produce evidence from the workplace that you are competent at undertaking various tasks. When the work is complete and assessed it will be filed in a portfolio of evidence.

Formal lectures, discussions and an explanation of the evidence that will be required.

Pre-requisite knowledge/qualification:

The course particularly suits mature students with no formal qualifications, however they should be employed in a suitable position to gather the evidence.
