Introduction:
This course is a practical based programme
offering training for compliance with Part P of
the Building Regulations.
Course objectives/key benefits:
On completion delegates will have an understanding
of inspection and testing, principles, procedures and
practices, leading to their demonstration of
competence in inspection and testing for the
requirements of Part P assessment.
Who the course is aimed at:
Domestic installers and electricians who require a
practical knowledge of inspection and testing and the
completion of the associated certificates and reports;
but do not require the C&G 2391 qualification.
This course is also suitable for 2391 candidates as
supplementary studies, and is particularly suited to
Part P registrants who require practical inspection and
testing knowledge.
Course content:
- Overview of legislation related to inspection and testing
- Safe working practices
- Hands on testing of simulated installations
- Compilation of NICEIC test documents
- Selection of test equipment
- Maintenance/accuracy requirements of test equipment
- Analysis of test results and reference to test parameters
- Practical test procedures
- Recording of test results; using Electrical Installation Certificate; Periodic Inspection Report and Minor Installation Work Certficate
- Inspection and testing for new installations/alterations and addition to existing installations

Training method:
Practical, hands on training using simulated
installations.
Course outcome/qualification:
PTC Certificate of Attendance.
At the end of the course candidates will have practical
experience of inspection; testing and recording of the
results. This will enable candidates to achieve the
competence level to comply with Part P requirements.
