Introduction:
The ICSA was founded in 1891 to
establish and enhance the
recognition of the profession of company secretaryship and define
the standards of professional
conduct to which Members should
aspire. The core of the profession is
integrity – a rich protection that
comes from key business
knowledge, the understanding of
regulatory environments and the
ability to deliver effective operations.
The profession is best illustrated by
the role of company secretary.
The law recognises the importance
of the role by requiring the company
secretary of a public company to have the requisite qualifications
knowledge and experience. The
Chartered Secretary’s qualification
specifically addresses the
requirements of this role.
However, the profession applies equally to all sectors, with members being sought to carry out roles in health trusts, pension schemes, local authorities, charitable trusts, educational institutions, partnership secretary and a host of other different organisations.
They are a key source of business and legal advice and maintain an ever-watchful eye whilst providing the essential interface between the board of management and its internal and external stakeholders and opinion formers. Chartered Secretaries make a powerful top level contribution to any organisation.
Membership of the Institute is
internationally recognised in over 90
countries including acknowledgement within the
European Union Directive on Mutual
Recognition of Professional Qualifications. It is one of the
biggest integrated global professions
today. It is therefore uniquely placed
to provide views internationally on
boardroom and management issues
from corporate overnance and
business ethics to ‘red tape’ and
regulations.
Course outcome/qualification:
On successful completion of the Certificate
in Business Practice or Diploma in
Business practice you will be able to use
the designatory letters Cert. ICSA

the opportunity of becoming a Company
